How many clients can connect wireless using 802.11g ?
Hello everyone. I would like to ask you how many clients can connect to a home router using 802.11g wifi cards. In previous topic people answered 252 devices. In my case is not happening and it is only 6 netbooks at my place. I am using Panasonic router (i am not remember exactly the model).
Also in other case, i have a router (Panasonic) with a laptop wireless, a desktop pc using ethernet and two ip cameras wireless. One camera stop working when laptop connects and the oposite. What is going on ?
Panasonic aren’t exactly famous for their routers. It could be that there is a problem with this particular brand of wireless router. Try purchasing a different router from a mainstream brand such as belkin, buffalo etc. These names you can trust, and generally you can get the routers very cheap.
You can actually have up to 254 wireless devices on one router. The internal IPs work like this:
192.168.1.x – where X is a number from 1-255. However one of these has to be the “default gateway”, leaving you with only 254 numbers. That is how many wireless clients can connect.
If your routers were working correctly they should not interfere with each other.
