Using existing PIR Motion Intruder Alarm with my wireless camera?
Hi,
I have 2 wireless camera installed in my parking, in the course of time I have noticed that after 3-4 hours of working these cameras start showing no signal(may be due to heat etc).
Now I have a PIR Intruder Alarm(battery operated), which sounds on motion detection, can I any how attach the PIR Intruder alarm to the camera’s power supply so that camera works only on motion detection and the footage is recorded on my computer which monitors the camera.
The PIR Alarm is a single unit with a built in Alarm

It seems the real problem is more to do with the cameras. Why do they stop working? If it is heat, make sure they are shaded from the sun. It is also possible that the power supplies are not suitable. Maybe the voltage is a bit higher than it should be, so heats the cameras or whatever. I have found these sort of cameras often need a regulated DC supply. You may have to get someone to look at them. Ditto the alarm unit.
In theory the intruder alarm should be able to control the cameras, even if it is simply used to control the power to them.
You will need to make sure the power supply voltages are suitable for the PIR unit, and look at the wiring of the alarm contacts. If it doesn’t have alarm contacts (relay) it may not be suitable.
