Video Camera XLR Inputs
Should I buy a consumer grade HD video camera or a standard definition 3CCD camera?
I am looking to buy a video camera for recording musical performances, professional looking videos for editing, and normal family stuff. I am not concerned about the size of the camera at all so don’t need something small but am only concerned with the quality of the picture and sound. A camera with an interchangeable lens and XLR audio inputs would be preferable but I could sacrifice the XLR inputs. My budget is around $500 – $1,000 and was wondering if a high definition consumer grade video camera or a standard definition 3 chip camera would give me a better video for editing and a more cinema-like look. An HD 3 chip camera is out of my price range at the moment so I am trying to decide which would be best for an indie-film look.
Get a nice 3CCD MiniDV. Super compatible and great image quality.
