I have just bought a Nikon S8100 and it is perfect. Except for in certain lights the video comes out really dark. When taking a picture with no flash, a picture will come out fine and light, but in the same place, the video will be really dark.

My best guess is that the shutter speed is being limited by the movie mode. For instance, if the still you take needs a shutter speed of 1/2s and the movie mode is 24 fps, the shutter speed of the video is 1/48s, not long enough to let in the proper light. You will have to open up the aperture or set a higher ISO sensitivity to get the proper exposure for a movie. I used this as a reference.
