What’s the difference between the Kodak Playsport zx3 and the new Playsport zx5 video camera?
So far the only differences from what I read so far is that the zx5 has macro mode, some editing features, and is dust proof. You get this for a 90 dollar increase. I hope this is not true because for a 90 dollar increase, i would expect at least the internals get upgraded. Please tell me that this isn’t only it because I don’t see these features justifiable of the 90 dollar increase.
Also I’m a bit irritated that the macro mode wasn’t on the zx3 like it should have. The zx3 is basically the zi8 in a waterproof body. The zi8 came out before the zx3 and had macro mode, but the zx3 doesn’t. WTF? If anything, they purposely didn’t add it so they could come out with this, the zx5, and add some additional features to call it a day with a 90 dollar price-tag increase.
Why does one Canon 50 mm lens cost $100 and another $1600. Both are 50 mm fixed lenses, how hard could it be to make one a couple f-stops faster.
Or why is their 100mm macro $600 and their same lens without macro $500.
My guess is that adding close focus is more complex and expensive than you think. Funny though, that it is a $100 feature on my Canon lens and on your Kodak you at least get change back for your extra $100.
And don’t discount dustproof. Dust kills more cameras than water.
