can police forces in the uk use community support officers on traffic duty with out a police officer eg anprs.
traveling home on the 02.04.2008 i spotted a cso on traffic duty alone . on contacting my local police station i was told that he wasnt on speed cameras but anprs. on 11.04.2008 i recevied a speeding fine and 3 points in the post the road is an expressway with a speed limit of 60 mph all around it with exception of 200 yds of road set at 40 mph i was doing 52 mph i do not think it is right for csos to do this policeing or indeed driving marked police vehicles
The function of C.S.O. is to some extent governed by the local police authority.
However I don’t understand your problem. You were speeding. It does not take a police officer to report that. A member of the public can supply evidence for speeding or any other offence.
If the speed limit was unclear and unmarked you may have a defence, but it doesn’t sound like it.
