I have got a new TomTom Xl IQ routes. What should I set the safety camera alert settings to ?
Currently it beeps for all the cameras (Mobile, Average Speed, Toll Road Camera etc…) which is not very useful as it beeps after each 5 to 10 minutes while driving. I want to know for which camera I should set the alert ? Options in my TomTom are Fixed, Mobile, Red Light, Toll Road Safety, Restricted Road, Misc, Mobile, Average Speed, Bidirectional , Accident blackspot etc…
Set them for the ones you want to be warned about. If you see some of them as not important then turn the alert off for them.
I always leave them all on and have not had a speeding offence for 5 years now.
If you have no route in the tom tom it will tell you about cameras just off your current road as it does not know where you plan to turn so in this instance you will get lots more alerts. If a route is put in it will only flag up the cameras on the road you are supposed to be taking.
Hope that helps but there is no special rule about which alerts to turn on or off – it is totally to your own preference as all the cameras can get you if you speed.
