Does anyone know much about the Argus C3 Rangefinder?
I just recently bought the Argus C3 “brick” and it has the basic lens [I believe 50mm] but the lens has an adapter on it. It’s a Tiffen Series #5 Adapter Ring. I would like to know what the adapter’s purpose is.
The seller didn’t know much about this camera because he got it from someone else. I tried to look up the adapter but the only information I could find is that it’s worth about $10, but I’d really like to know what it’s purpose is.
It is an old camera popular during WWII. The adapter is used to put series 5 filters on it. You should still be able to find series 5 filters in common types (cooling, warming and skylight and perhaps red – 25A, yellow and orange) I have seen a lot of used ones at various camera stores over the years.
