Need a photographic expert advice regarding lens (Sony G) and (Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar), which one is better?
I was thinking to purchase a Sony digital camera, but confused as few models come with Sony G lens and few with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar, so wanted to know what an expert’s advice is?
You wont find a “G” or CZ lens in a kit… ie. they wont come with the camera.
Really neither is “better”. In fact is seems as though Sony, at least for the time being, does their best to keep these series from overlapping. In general the CZ lenses tend to cover the shorter ranges and the “G” lenses tend to cover the longer ranges. The longest range CZ is 85mm and there is only one short range “G”, the 35mm.
So basically what lens you go after really depends on your needs. Sports photography or long range nature shooting like birds you would be looking at “G” lenses. CZ are among some of the sharpest lenses you can buy for any camera. So wedding, portrait, macro you’d be looking at the CZ.
All that said these are lenses for the professional end of the Sony lenses. If you have the money to burn by all means go for it and enjoy… but for the novice or armature the standard Sony lenses are more than enough. In fact many of them will deliver professional level images at a much lower cost. CZ’s in particular are very heavy lenses… not intended for casual use.
So basically you need to asses your needs then go for the lens that best fits regardless if it is a G or CZ, because both are exquisite quality.
To be honest unless you are planning on buying the A850 or the A900 one lens I would defiantly look into is neither G nor CZ. It’s the Sony DT 18-250mm. It’s the most versatile lens Sony has and great quality. I’ve been shooting with it for months now and it rarely leaves my camera.
If you are going to get the A850 or A900 then the 18-250 is not for you.
If you told me what you intend to shoot and in what conditions I could probably recommend the best lens Sony offers. I’m familiar with just about all of them if not all.. and have shot with many including two of the CZ’s.
So the short answer to your question which lens is best G or CZ depends on your need… neither is inherently better.

Cybershot Digital Cameras make a Difference
The digital cameras from Sony Cybershot make sure that users get used to the best of technology that is around. The ultra compact point and shoot cameras were among the best, but Sony has launched cameras that are better than the best. These are high end devices that have a thin body and a sliding cover with Carl Zeiss lens. If you are keen to look into the box, the Sony Cybershot offers a very small packaging with the essentials printed on it. The blue version is surprisingly shown on all of the boxes. It is something that does not depend on the color of the model which is kept inside.
The first thing which you will see out there is a manual, a paper of registration and an advertisement for additional services involving the party shot dock. Once that is done, you get to see the camera that you have read so much about. The digital cameras from Cybershot draw attention as it has a premium and slim design. As for the cables, the cameras are provided with AC cable for charging, USB cables and a stereo audio cable to connect the dock with a stereo system, although the HD people will mention that you can transfer the sound through the HDMI cable.
The HDMI cable is absent in these Cybershot digital cameras so that means you need to buy these if you are keen to connect your camera directly with your TV. The DC cable is also absent which means that you cannot use the dock as a charger right out of the box. The Exmor P and wrist band are attached to the camera out of the box. Once both have been removed, it is ready to include the battery and the SD memory card.
The digital cameras also support not just the memory pro, but SDHC and SD. There is a little pen which allows you to control the touch screen. While few people might not have any use for it, the pen can shine when you use the drawing features of the Cybershot digital camera.
