Everything you need (except a 1GB or larger memory card) comes with the camera including the Lithium-Ion NP-BG1 rechargeable battery and charger.
If you are ordering on the Internet, beware that there are some companies that sell the camera at a ridiculously low price and then sell you what is supposed to come with the camera at a very high price … in the end, the total cost is MORE than had you purchased the camera from a legitimate authorized dealer
