Where to find a motion sensor?
I’m looking for a motion sensor like the ones found in high tech security cameras. I want it to be able to sense when someone is moving, and then be able to follow the moving person/object, like when a security camera ‘locks on’ to a moving person and the camera pans to follow the subject. Where can I find something like this? I don’t need the camera, just the motion sensor/ motor that would be in the camera and allow it to follow things.
All of that logic is done in software. The “motion sensor” is the camera itself.
Example:
A software controller watches the image from the camera for changes. If there is no movement in a certain view, each frame will be virtually identical to the last. Once motion occurs in the view, the frames begin to differ and the controller “detects” motion. A region of the screen is defined where the differences in the frames occurred. This region is “locked on” and the controller begins to track where it moves in relation to the viewport. If the region drifts toward the edge of the viewport, the controller activates the camera mount’s servos to pan/tilt the camera until the region is again centered in the viewport.
This software logic can be programmed into a microcontroller and embedded directly into the camera/mount assembly, but it doesn’t make sense to do so. Surveillance controllers are external and typically housed in the same place as the recording equipment.
