Making computer faster for video editing?
I’m sure its been asked before, but I don’t understand it as much if I ask it myself…
I am planning to purchase the RED Scarlet camera when it comes out. I am going to be making videos in 3K RAW.
I have a desktop XP, I dont know much about the numbers involved.
What would be my best bet to be able to edit the videos very easily? now, my computer is quite slow, so having 3K files would pretty much kill it. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to do anything.
Would purchasing an external Hard Drive work? Such as a 2TB H-Drive. or possibly 2 or 3 of them?
I have 32-bit XP
and extremely low RAM.
To make your computer faster for Video editing, you need a descent graphics card and a descent amount of RAM (memory)
Your external Hard drive (HDD) would allow you to put more videos, music, pictures etc on the computer.
Do some research on what type of Graphics card you need, and put in some RAM. I recommend 2gb for Windows XP or 2-4gb of RAM in Windows Vista (More in Vista as it can accept more RAM).
Before you add RAM do some research on your Computer, see how much it can handle and what type you need.
WARNING: NOT ALL RAM IS THE SAME.
Hope This helps and happy Video Editing

Shattered legs and arm. Brain injury. Quadriplegic. Blind.’ But look: All are smiling widely into the camera’s lens. And so is Williams as he recounts his experiences in mentoring the U.S. Marines Corps wheelchair …
