photography help !!?

i use a digital camera and i take photos often . i don’t really like to use flash (there are only four modes -auto, flash off , fill in flash and red eye ) as it makes the background of the picture dark especially indoors .but then again if i do not use flash the picture turns out to be very blur . i usualy tune the exposure to brighten or darken a shot but that doesn’t really help . is there any way around this problem?

oh by the way i use an Olympus FE-230 7.1 mega pix .

Honestly with these point and shoot cameras your options are limited. The problem is that you are shooting in an area that is to dark. When it is to dark the camera has 2 options……. leave the shutter open longer to allow in more light, but this will result in blurry images unless the camera is on a tripod (or held very, very still) and the subject sits still. The other option is to use the flash, but these only light a short distance from the camera, resulting in a dark back ground

Here are my suggestions if you don’t like the look of the flash

1) shoot outside or some place with much more light
2) set the camera down or use a tripod to eliminate the blur that comes from slow shutter speed
3) some cameras have different ISO settings – a higher setting will allow you to shoot with less light before requiring a flash

Good Luck
