My Olympus digital camera battery is not charging?
Does this mean that I need a new battery or a new charger?
I charge it for a few hours and I only get about 10 minutes out of it.
Rechargeable batteries eventually will no longer take a charge and need to be replaced. Normally this takes hundreds of recharge cycles – batteries are typically rated to take 500 to 1000 cycles. However, if they get unusually hot or cold or are damaged by impact, they can also lose their ability to take a charge.
Most likely it’s a battery problem and not a charger problem. I would start by getting a new battery and charging it fully before use.
If this doesn’t work, it could also be a problem with your camera that something is wrong that is causing it to use power much faster than normal. That means sending it to the manufacturer for repair. If your camera is more than two or three years old, it’s probably out of warranty and not worth repairing. It’s new camera time!
