Do most digital camera’s only use their own brand SD cards?
Okay well i’m considering getting a new camera but i don’t want to have to pay heaps for a new SD card because only their brands can be used. So i was wondering if this is the case with most brands now? because i’ve heard that Olympus digital cameras only use Olympus xd picture cards. Thanks [:
A XD card is not the same as a SD card. Olympus and Fuji developed The XD card and because it’s
limited to only 2 Gb they’re both using SD or micro SD cards in their recent models.
For Olympus you need an Olympus-compatible XD card because of their panorama-function.
No need though to use an Olympus brand card, a Sandisk p.e. will also do.
And then there is Sony. They recently switched from their own Memory Stick to SD.
So if you buy a new camera now a days it always uses a SDHC or micro SDHC card. The Brand is no
issue, the speed and quality is.
