Nikon D7000 Battery Grip Review MB-D11
I’ve never owned a grip before and wasn’t sure if I would like this or not. When I received it, I carefully attached it to my new D7000. First, I’d like to warn that this grip adds noticeable weight to the D7000. In fact, initially, I was a little concerned that it might be too heavy for me, and for a moment, I actually considered returning it. However, now that I’ve had the Nikon D7000 battery grip for several days, I can say without a doubt that I absolutely LOVE it!
It truly does transform the D7000 from a great camera into an awesome camera. Sure, it doesn’t change the functionality, but it does improve the handling and feel of the camera. I have average hands, but even so, I found that (without the grip) my pinkie finger didn’t feel comfortable on the D7000. Adding the grip totally changed that. The grip gives extra space for your fingers and creates a boundary that gives your hand a limit so it can’t slip off. It makes the camera super easy to pick up and go.
As far as the extra weight is concerned, now that I’ve used the D7000 battery grip for a while, I don’t even notice the extra weight. I think it’s just something you have to get used to. In fact my wife also uses my new D7000 and she has no problems with the grip either. Also, the extra controls on the grip are so handy when taking portrait/vertical shots. It really helps with the ergonomics of the camera. It’s a great addition to an amazing camera. I’d highly recommend this to anyone wanting a more comfortable experience with their D7000.
Conclusion: The Nikon MB-D11 grip/pack is a high quality accessory that improves the handling and comfort of the D7000 to such a great degree that I leave this lightweight grip attached to my D7000 all the time now, even when I don’t need the extra battery power. It’s a little expensive, but it is well worth having, especially if you have large hands. I love my D7000.
