What’s the best way to keep condensation from forming on my camera?
What’s the best way to keep condensation from forming on my camera? I live in Florida and I just got a new Sony HDR-AX2000, the big problem I’m running into is the extreme temperature changes between the A/C inside and the heat and humidity outside. I’m worried about damaging the electronics inside the camera. The manual says to use a plastic bag and I’ve heard about other people doing this. Should I just go get the largest zip lock bag I can find? I want to make sure that if I use this technique and put the camera in a zip lock while I’m inside and then move outside that condensation won’t form inside the bag and inside the camera. Any tips or pointers?
the condensation happens because the camera is cold from being air conditioned, and outside air is moist. the most effective way to eliminate the problem is to pre-warm the camera. if you can store the camera in a non-air conditioned space, that is best. the plastic bag will only be partially effective as you cannot remove the camera from the bag when outside until the camera temperature is fully warm.
