I have a Leica M3 and the leather on the camera body is damaged. Where do I find replacement leather?
Also, I understand there are different types of designs. How do I determine which pattern I have? What type of glue does one use to attach the leather to the camera body?
Try this site http://cameraleather.com/ the Leica M3 is supported, full details on site. They are self adhesive these days, and it is fairly easy to do, I’ve done 3 from my Pentax collection. Fancy a snakeskin Leica? They have original too.
The leather comes precut, removing the old leather is the hardest thing, the instructions will be specific to your camera.
Once all the old leather is removed you get the new piece, remove the backing, dip it into a bowl containing water with a few drops of washing up liquid (to stop the adhesive from ‘grabbing’) position, squeegee down to remove any bubbles (you have plenty of time and can even start again if you want) when you’re happy leave to dry.
