is the Leica V-Lux 1 a good camera?
Is the Leica V-Lux 1 a good camera? I know it’s a few years old considering it was made in 2006 and now discontinued, but you can find it cheap on the interwebs. Is it a good camera to invest in? My Dream camera is a Leica M8, but I can’t afford that right now. I have a Nikon right now. But back to my question, is it good?
First of all, It’s not really a Leica like the M8, it’s made by Panasonic. It is better than many P&S cameras, but not as good as an SLR.
Contrary to what the first guy said, you CAN get a DSLR with an equivalent zoom for around the same price. The Nikon D60 body sells for around $600. Add a Tamron 18-270VC lens ($600) and you have a real SLR with an 28-405mm (15x) zoom. That’s a better wide angle, with almost the same telephoto and stabilization (VC – Vibration Correction) like the V-Lux.
I’d rather have a DSLR with the flexibility of the D60 Than be locked into a glorified P&S camera. If you want a simple camera while you save up for what you want, get the Canon SX10IS, SX1IS, or Nikon’s P90 for now.
