Who needs megapixel IP security cameras?
IP is an acronym that stands for “Internet Protocol” and an IP Security System is an internet based security system, which uses a LAN network or the Internet as a crucial tool for surveillance. IP system delivers secure and real time images of an event; as well as, the flexibility to show both full motions and still images.
The term Megapixel applies to cameras with a minimum of 1 million pixels, this immediately gives a much better quality image for both forensic and legal purposes. Megapixel IP Cameras are suitable in really demanding situations where you need to be able to identify people or objects in a scene. This could be point-of-sales (POS) monitoring where it is necessary to clearly see every item a customer is purchasing or situations where you need to be able to identify a face. Some Megapixel IP cameras are adapted for maximum performance indoor applications, such as commercial, banking, government buildings, schools, universities, airports, Hotels and Shopping Centers.
Megapixel IP Security Camera offers intelligent capabilities such as enhanced video motion detection, audio detection, and alarm notification at tampering attempts such as blocking or spray-painting the camera. IP cameras or network IP cameras stream live video via digital packets across an internet protocol network such as a LAN (Local Area Network) or the Internet, this enables users to view and/or manage the IP cam using a standard web browser or video management software from different locations, giving businesses increased flexibility, in another words, Power over Ethernet support enables easy installation in virtually any location. No conventional power outlet required at point of install.
Best Features in Megapixel IP Security Camera are;
1. Real time Events.
IP Camera System records events in real time, and provide triggering alerts and warnings of in progress events in case a suspicious activity is detected such as: blocking, covering, spray-painting or redirection.
- Perfect Image.
IP camera is the perfect choice regarding the clarity of images because of it’s highly and various resolutions, it is at least four times clearer more than the traditional CCTV system. Simultaneous high resolution and low bandwidth streams allowing remote viewing of live video whilst recording crisp megapixel images.
Some Applications which use Megapixel IP security Cameras:
- Airports;
What an airport needs is highly reliable, Flexible and long distance transmission across large area. This is what Megapixel IP security cameras do. It can secure practically every facet of airport operations: from concourses, parking garages, and perimeters to employees, travelers, and cargo. This kind of video surveillance helps airport authorities increase situational awareness, improve emergency preparedness and response, and expedite investigations.
- Hotels;
To properly monitor the high-class facility, megapixel network cameras were chosen because of the clear image quality they deliver, and their ability to cover larger areas than traditional surveillance cameras. For example, using IR megapixel bullet camera with day/night functionality allows it to capture clear and detailed video even in completely dark conditions. The other reason of why Megapixel IP security camera is suitable for hotels that it supports Power over Ethernet for flexible installation throughout the hotel grounds.
- Schools
By using megapixel IP security cameras, now the school is able to secure its properties 24 hours a day and monitor every corner of the campus, including entrances, exits and stairs, etc. Remote clients can log into the management system to get simultaneous monitoring no matter where they are or how late it is.
- License Plate Recognition;
LPR systems are designed to provide a monitoring and capture device for properties where traffic or parking is an integral part of daily operation and in mobile situations like law enforcement and toll booth operations. Megapixel IP Cameras are used in this field because of their accurate and clear images.
- Shopping Malls;
In a shopping mall your primary goal of a camera installation may be to watch for the presence of people and view their movements but sometimes for identification of individuals. Highly detailed images can be achieved by installing an IP network camera with a telescopic lens or a lens with zoom capability to allow a closer view of the area of interest. This could be point-of-sales monitoring where it is necessary to clearly see every item a customer is purchasing or situations where you need to be able to identify a face.
- Other applications such as;
Offices, Casino (against fraud or cheating) , Reception areas, Retail outlets, Parking lots, Colleges and other public and commercial buildings or facilities.

Forensic Chemistry – Taking a Closer Look at the Evidence of a Crime Scene
The scientific procedures used in an actual crime lab are similar to those you see on the CSI TV shows. In this article, we will discuss some of the procedures used when CSI technicians examine evidence in closer detail.
In a scientific crime lab, the following procedures are used to analyze compounds up close:
- Gas chromatography
- Mass spectroscopy, and
- Infrared spectrophotometry
No doubt, you may have heard of these terminologies when watching your favorite CSI program.
Gas chromatography (GC) is a method used to identify what a compound is and how far each part of it moves through an inert gas, or noble gas. GC very quickly separates mixtures of compounds into individual parts in this way.
The way GC is performed is that a lab technician injects a liquid sample into one end of the column that is heated and vaporized. The vapor enters the column and flows with the moving inert gas until it reaches another gadget called a detector. Different compounds move at different speeds and thus separate from each other. During this change, the individual compounds arrive at the detector at different times. It is a scientific marathon for individual compounds. The detector then signals another gadget called a recorder that prints a graph, called a chromatograph, that denotes each of the compounds detected. Many times, the result of the GC are needed by technicians to determine the composition of the unknown substance. If they need more information, technicians can combine the results of the GC with the results of either infrared spectrophotometry or mass spectroscopy.
Mass spectroscopy (MS) is another technique used in a crime lab to determine a substance’s chemical makeup. Since no two substances have the exact same chemical makeup, or chemical fingerprint, this gadget can be used to determine the makeup of one substance and compare it to another.
The mass spectroscope is a machine that showers a compound with a beam of high-energy electrons that cause the separation of that compound. The resulting individual fragments then pass through an electric or magnetic field that separates them according to their individual masses. The pattern of fragmentation of the unknown compound is then compared via computer to known patterns of fragmentation on record and scrutinized by a technician with the hope of determining a consistency that unveils the composition of the unknown compound.
The GC and MS can be used together. This conglomerate is called a gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer. The GC feeds each separated gaseous substance into the MS which in turn determines the substance’s mass spectrum. Just about any substance can be identified using this combination.
Finally, infrared spectrophotometry (IR) is a technique used to identify the absorption spectrum of a compound since each compound has a unique infrared absorption spectrum. This method determines the amount of infrared light absorbed by the compound of interest and results in a chemical fingerprint of that same compound.
IR can also be used in conjunction with GC, and the GC-IR combination very quickly gives results that are just as accurate as the ones given by the GC-MS combination.
Interpreting the Results
Even though technicians can not always determine the exact manufacturer of a given compound, a comparative analysis between the unknown compound and those taken from suspected areas may help them trace the unknown sample to a particular gas station or hardware store that sells the accelerant.
Though this particular investigative technique is not totally reliable, the investigative criminal scientist may be able to say that it came from a particular source.
The next time you watch any of the CSI shows, you will have better knowledge of what some of these techniques are used for whenever you hear the terminologies we have discussed.
