What cameras did they film Law and Order with in the early 90s?

I was watching an episode of Law and Order on TNT and it was in 1080 HD, but it was an episode from 1994. This predates the US adoption of HD TV (1998). Were they using wide format film cameras? Why would they do this for a TV show?

They filmed on HD back then as default. The bad television quality crapped up the image. I saw a led zeppelin concert from the 70′s in HD which led me to finding out the answer

What is the difference between film camera and digital camera?

Film Camera and Digital Camera has the same purpose but we can agree upon that they are completely different media. Most of us would think that these two are related but they are not. Most of us prefer digital camera over film camera, basically we have our own reasons. From results digital camera has better output rather than film camera, now why is that, because film camera has these procedure to follow before having your expected results to show, in short you need to put on more effort to see results from the film camera, and of course only the professional or skilled photographers can make a very good results from film camera.

The biggest reason the results look different is the highlights. We’re used to the way film looks. It overloads gracefully when things get too light or wash out. This mimics our eye far better than digital. Digital’s weak point is that highlights abruptly clip and look horrible as soon as anything hits white. Unlike film there is no gradual overload to white.

Now which is better?

My answer is neither is better on an absolute basis. It is mainly on the preferred choices of applications. Once you know your application the debate goes away. The debate only exists when people presume erroneously that someone else’s needs mirror their own.

If and only if you’re an accomplished artist who can extract every last drop from film’s quality then film, meaning large format film, technically is better than digital in every way. Few people have the skill to work film out to this level, thus the debate.

Both Film Camera and Digital Camera has their own distinct advantages between them from every certain aspect you look to it, what matters most is the quality it brings to us. If you are using a film camera there must be something that your prefer on the result. If you are using a digital camera there also must be something that makes you feel satisfied on the results.

Basically everyone has their own choice of preference from both Film Camera and Digital Camera.
