Portable analogue to digital recording solution?
I have an antique Sony CCD-V200e pro video camera. It still works well but I was wondering if there is a digital recorder that I can connect up to the video/audio output sockets of the video camera so instead of recording via the 8mm recorder (which is very poor quality) I can digitally record on the move and have no loss in quality. It would have to be small so I can use it while using the video camera (e.g. in my pocket etc.) I know it is a lot to ask just wondering
I guess it depends how big your pockets are…
The Archos 405 30 gig does AV (analog) in so if you connect the AV-out of the camcorder to the AV-in, you should be able to record.
To say “no loss” will be a challenge – it is likely there will be a lot of compression – hence, loss. Standard definition DV uses about 14 gig of hard drive space per hour of video… I do not know what the Archos does in the way of compression.
