Do you have to buy ink for the polaroid pogo camera or just for the zink printer?
I’m unsure wether I’m better off buying a polaroid pogo camera or the zink printer and buying a compatible digital camera. Obviously the camera has the printer inside so it cuts down on physical equipment but I think the camera is pretty big compared with other digital cameras. I know that ink must be bought for the printer but do you have to buy it for the pogo camera also?!
Cheers!
Hi,
I would opt for the PoGo printer plus a seperate camera. Why?
1) With the printer alone you can print pics from all digital cameras that support the PictureBridge technology plus you can print from cellphones using Bluetooth.
2) Ink: You don’t need to buy ink for the printer or the camera with built in printer. Both use the Polaroid ZINK technology. Zink means Zero Ink. The Zink paper you need for both already contains the ink.
3) Price: The printer alone is about 50 US$ while the camera with built in printer costs 200 US$ (according to the Polaroid website). A difference of 150 Dollars is quite a lot for a 5 megapixel camera.
4) THe camera with built in printer is quite large – as you said – and has rather poor camera features (5 MP only, no optical zoom, no video mode) compared to a modern digicamera in the 100 – 150 USD price range.
So with the printer alone (and maybe you already have a camera that supports PictBridge) you have more flexibility, you can also print instantly from your friends cameras or cellphones which certainly can be a lot of fun.
As said above: Both printer alone and the camera with built in printer use the exactly the same paper and both DO NOT need any additional ink.
As said with a nice modern camera plus the printer you can enjoy all the features of a modern digital camera plus you can print from your camera, from your cellphone (there are already cameraphones with 5 Megapixels) and from your friends cameras etc.
Hope it helps with your decision.
