Can I use my camcorder or digital camera as a webcam?
I have a Sony Handycam DCR-SR72E and a Fujifilm FinePix S5600.
It seems that neither have the ability to send A/V directly out while hooked up to my laptop. It seems neither can be in “camera mode” and in “connected mode” at the same time.
Am I just thick?
both will send out to a ‘TV’ etc. while in camera mode…
I think you would be better off with a dedicated web-cam instead of using your expensive handycam or finepix.
A webcam would soon become indispensable on your pc and you can’t be unhooking your two cameras whenever you need it elsewhere.
I’d suggest getting a webcam like A4 tech’s PK635M which is cheap and best of all is auto-focus and good resolution.

If you are using a laptop, there are other clip ons in the family.
Take it from me, my digital camera was so frequently not with the PC when needed. It’s frustrating.
This camera comes with a built in mic that is quite ok. Be aware that the camera without the M designation is without the mic.
