How do I match the image in the camera display with the image in the computer screen?
The photo in the 3″ display on my digital camera looks just fine but on my computer monitor it is dark no matter how I adjust the brightness and contrast of the monitor.
Should I darken the camera display to match the monitor and then increase the exposure so it looks good?
Any other suggestions?
You probably shouldn’t adjust anything until you see how the photos look when you print them. So print some pictures from your camera at a photo store or at your drugstore, etc. and see how they look. If they look OK, then the problem is just that your monitor or graphics card is adjusted too dark. But if the printed photos look too dark as well, then it’s something wrong with your camera and maybe adjusting exposure would help.
If you don’t want to try printing any photos, another idea would be to just look at lots of photos on your computer, taken by many different cameras – if in general they look dark too, then it’s your monitor or graphics card, or if they look OK, then it’s your camera (a good place to look at random photos is probably http://www.flickr.com).
