Canon SX1 IS Digital Camera
The SX1 IS is a fantastic piece of kit! A casual glance suggests dSLR pedigree but rest assured the lens on this model is fixed. A great option for the cross-over between compact and dSLR this unit offers some great functionality and features.
Featuring a CMOS sensor instead of the usual CCD of smaller compacts means you’re getting dSLR-type performance. The Powershot SX1 IS allows for printing images up to A2 size! This means printing A4 on a home printer will deliver glorious detail (depending on your printer – check out our range of photography inspired printers!).
The “compact” type nature of the Powershot SX1 IS means that for those point and shoot users this is an ideal option is you are looking for something that delivers bigger, better quality pictures than a normal compact.
However, you are not limited to fully automatic mode and the SX1 IS allows for operation in partial or full manual modes too.
Again showing its cross-over pedigree the SX1 IS features a flash gun hotshoe allowing for fitting a Canon Flashgun to allowing greater levels of creativity with lighting (like bounce lighting).
The versatility of the lens is another feature worth mentioning. At 28-560mm (35mm equivalent) this lens provides a huge focal range. There is also a super-macro function to allow getting in real close! And the lens is an IS model meaning it’s image stabalised to help reduce the effects of shaky hands!
Lastly, the SX1 IS also shoots full resolution HD moving images and this model also allows you to shoot video and use the zoom on the lens. With a built in microphone and good quality video recording performance this is an all-purpose camera for keen photographers!
