I just bought a Canon 500D..?
I just bought a Canon 500D and love it! I am very cautious with it though! I don’t like to take it out in ANY type of weather… I just don’t want to get water or anything in it and wreck it. I spent a few hundred dollars on it and I want to keep it safe. Are there any weather or rain covers I can get for it that actually work? I only have 18-55mm and 55-250mm lens and I am thinking about ordering the 75-300mm. Is there anything I can do to help protect my camera? I am fairly new to OWNING an SLR and I am a little paranoid about hurting it! Thanks!
All cameras are design to withstand a limited amount of element, so unless you don’t expose the camera in pouring rain, it should have no negative effects.
What you can do is use a dry soft cloth to wipe the camera clean after coming back from rain.
As for the 75 – 300mm lens, personally I don’t recommend that unless you are planning to trade-in the 55-250mm lens, because you are essentially buying an additional 50mm of focal length.
Alternatively, you might want to look into a 1.4x extension for the 55-250mm or a 300mm prime lens.
One more thing, if you are really concern about the rain and have to do a lot of shooting in rainy weather, you can go to one of your local camera shops and ask the sale staffs to show you some rain hood.
