camera advise on DSLR + compact printer to print photos?

im looking into taking up photography and need to find a good DSLR cameras. i am thinking of CANON EOS 550D Digital SLR or CANON EOS 500D Digital SLR or nikon cameras, I was wondering if there is anyone out there know what sort of advise to give. I guess my budget isn’t as great but I can look into around £600, I had been told that a digital SLR camera with built in flash light is not as great as non built in flash is this true? If there is any suggestion is to post a web link that you think maybe useful for me to look at, also a compact printer to print out photos if there are also any suggestion on this that would help a great deal.

Actually none of the large sensor (APS-H and larger) Canon/Nikon/Sony cameras have pop up flash. It’s mainly because for the users of those camera the pop up is useless. If you have any normal constant aperture zoom or large aperture lens, you will cast a shadow with a pop up flash. Furthermore the pop up flash provides ridiculously harsh light, and cannot be bounced, I have a pop up flash, but I never use it. I’d rather crank up the ISO and weather the storm of noise produced.

Now the 550D and 500D are good consumer vDSLRs, but they are expensive for what is an entry level SLR. But if you’re not going to learn photography/be a photographer there is no reason why you need any more. They both have pop up flash, but as I said, you wouldn’t want to use it.

As to the printer, it depends on what results you want. The Polaroid Pogo is pictbridge compatible, and quite low cost as well as being really small. However because of the print technique resolution is limited, and durability is questionable. Canon make a series called the Selphy, they’re much bulkier and more expensive than the Pogo, but the Selphy does produce more lasting prints.
