Canon EOS – can an M42 adapter cause the camera to short-circuit?
According to a photo store I’m looking to purchase an M42-EOS adapter from, the aluminium adapter coming in contact with the contact pins inside the camera’s mount can cause it to short circuit. The website notes that only “some Canon models” are affected by this issue. This should be the case if the pins extend to far out past the mount’s rim, I suppose. Normally, the pins would touch the small contact plates on Canon lenses, be they with a metal or plastic mount. Two questions have I:
1. How do I know if the pins hit the adapter or not?
2. The store suggests applying nail polish or duct tape to the part of the adapter that comes into contact with the pins. Would this be safe to do?
Any other recommendations are more than welcome.
I own a 450D
It would help if you said what camera you own. I have a 40D and use a M42 > EOS adapter with no problems.
