Why does my canon camera battery die so fast?
I use the Canon PowerShot G2. I charge the batteries according to the manual book, which is, after the orange light had turned steady orange, charge it for another 2 hours to get it fully charged. i did that to both of my batteries but every time i switched on the camera, in less then 3 minutes, it will die. I do take out my batteries if not in use. Is there a problem with the battery? Or am i charging it wrongly?

Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries have a limited useful life of about 200-400 charge/discharge cycles (NiMH batteries life is typically somewhat longer (300-500 cycles)). As the battery ages its capacity will diminish to the point that the device may only function for a short period. To ensure the longest life of a battery it is suggested that the battery be promptly removed from the charger after charging is completed. Leaving the battery loaded into the charger for an extended period may lower the performance of the battery. When the battery has reached the point where it is no longer serviceable we suggest you please visit the Canon Accessory Annex to purchase a replacement battery.
Also, the manual states that a steady orange light means the camera can be used, but a steady green light indicates a fully charged battery.
One big of advice, also from Canon. You can’t get a 2300 mAh battery as the camera’s OEM one is rated for an 1100 mAh Lithium. You can buy replacements at any camera store or on Amazon.com.
