I own the 50D and it is a fantastic piece of equipment. That said, do some research prior to making your decision. Figure out which features will be most important to you and what you plan to use the camera for. Go to a camera store and play with each of them and look at the menus and buttons on the camera and see which ones are set up best for you. Nikon and Canon both make great equipment but when you start collecting lenses (and you will) Canon’s are typically cheaper by about 10 to 15 percent. This really adds up when you buy more and more lenses. Also, the better the lens the better the pictures so choose the lens you buy with the camera carefully. Again, look at what you intend to use the camera for the most and purchase one or two lenses with the camera that meet your immediate needs. Good luck with your decision and happy shooting.
