Can the Bower SFD35N be used as slave unit?
I think that is what it’s called, i want to be able to use it as off-camera flash under umbrella stand if i ever need to with Nikon D 40,,,,can I?

No optical slave in that body. The Bower SFD926N allegedly does have optical slave.
However, for umbrella use, you get a $20 set of radio poppers and it doesn’t matter.
