Will rain ruin my Canon EOS 500D?
I’ve always been scared to take photos when it’s raining and usually shove a plastic bag over it and try to use an umbrella.
Last week though I was in town because there was a homecoming presentation and I noticed professional photographers not using any protection. Obviously, my camera is only an entry level one and not a professional DSLR like theirs so maybe they’re more protected against rain? I don’t know. Wouldn’t the rain break it and damage something?
In general a DSLR can take a lot more rain that most people think. I’ve shot my D300 in pouring rain and serious snow. But, that’s weather sealed. The 500D is not exactly the most robust camera (just like the rest of the rebel models) I think I’d protect that camera as well.
