Help finding a good film camera online?
Hi, I’m going off to camp this summer and my camp provides cameras and film and a darkroom but their cameras are all really crappy, so I’m planning on buying one on ebay. I’m looking for a 35mm film camera. Any tips for Ebay or another place to buy it? Everything helps! Thanks!
Ebay can be a good place to buy a camera, but need to do a little research. First you need to decide what camera manufacturer you like. I’ve alway loved my Nikons, they are great cameras and with all the pros going to digital there is a lot of nice equipment on the market at a good price.There is a reason Nikons are loved and are the most used 35mm camera…the bodies are made to last and as a professional for years I can tell you from experience…a cheap camera will fail on you just as you need it most….look for a Nikon F3 for example. The Nikon lenses for the most part are excellent (not to say there aren’t a few dogs out there) So there’s what I would do, go to a local camera store aor used book store like Powells.com find a book title “The Nikon Compendium” check my spelling. This book is an independent review of most of the Nikon camera bodies and lens…read through the descriptions and reviews of the lenses. You’ll know what lens to look for after an evenings work. My favorite is the Nikon micro lens (actually a macro lens)…very sharp and capable of extreme closeups and good for portraits and just general shots. In a nut shell decide what type of photography interests you most , pick a Nikon body ..F3 or F4 with a nice lens and then check out Ebay sellers (with a 98 or better rating) and one that deals in cameras primarily and has a lot of sales 100 to 200 or more…and pay with Pal pal.
