Buying My First Camera?
I am looking to buy my first proper camera I am not bothered weather it is a Micro Four Thirds (4/3) or a DSLR as long as it meets the following requirements.
1.It has HD Video 1280-720 Hopefully with stereo sound although that may be pushing it.
2.Under £500 hopefully that will include the usual 18-55 lens
3.Not Nikon.
4.SD HC memory card support.
To add to this I have been looking at the Pentax K-X and the Samsung NX-10
Do you like the K-x? If you can’t answer that you should perhaps go to a camera shop with your own memory card, and test out their display model. And while you’re there test out the Canon EOS 500D, and despite you not wanting a Nikon, you should still try a D5000 even if it just convinces your initial opinion.
Before you go you should also take a look at user groups on places like flickr and redbubble. This should give you an idea of what the cameras you are looking at are capable. Then it’s just a matter of balancing out the specs you want, the performance it can give, and how much you like the way the thing handles.
As to the mirrorless options, I’m not such a big fan. I think I prefer the M4/3 system to the NX-10 (and Sony NEX cameras) because the M4/3 has a wider choice of equipment (including Leica M-lenses, the very best of the best), and it’s very much their corner of the market.

It’s been only 6 months since the very compact Panasonic Lumix GF2 Micro Four-Thirds system camera hit stores, and it already has a notably smaller follow-up: the GF3.
