Pictures turn out smudgy/blurry almost like a painting?
Hello, I have a Kodak C195 and pictures don’t have very much detail at all. Kind of blurry and smudgy and not great detail. I edited some too and kept some unedited and they look detail less still. Should I upgrade camera. Thanks
Well they look great when taken…but when printed they turn out like mentioned above. I’ve researched settings on it and all that …thought I had it figured out and when printed not too good…
“Blurry and smudgy”. Have you looked very closely at your lens? If a child or even yourself has touched the glass lens, there can be a smudge or oil residue on the lens. Or perhaps some other foreign substance is on the lens. Use a SOFT cloth to wipe the lens, a soft t shirt is ideal. Do not use any type of paper towel or toilet tissue. If you are very careful, you can use a Q Tip with a small amount of alcohol to swab the lens. Then followup with wiping with the soft cloth.

ADD: You should have stated at first that your problem was PRINTS, not the photo taken by the camera. The very first thing of which you need to ensure is that your camera is set to it’s highest quality / largest size setting. NEVER set your camera to any capture resolution that is any less than it’s maximum. Then you have to be sure that if you are doing any post editing in any kind of software, that your original file is not being overwritten with a much smaller, lower resolution file. The next issue is what size are you trying to print. Megapixels do not automatically mean quality. A very low end point and shoot camera such as yours, (sorry, but that is what it is), is not capable of producing very large prints. You should be fine with an 8 x 10 or even an 11 x 14, but only if the exposure and focus are perfect. Another aspect is how you are trying to print. If you are using a home printer, then there are a huge amount of variables that can affect quality, such as type of paper used, using or not using the correct driver for your paper, printer capability, ink nozzle cleaning and alignment. If you upload your files to an online printer such as Mpix, you should not encounter any print issues as long as you are uploading quality files.
