alternatives to camera lens cleaner?
I need to clean up some old lenses they’ve gone a bit scummy but i don’t really want to buy lens cleaner/want to clean them now and dont have any. Is there anything else i could use? i heard somewhere that you can get away with using nail polish remover for example.
Does anyone know of anything else i.e. alcohol hand gel? mouthwash? (contains alcohol) etc etc
p.s. i mostly just want to clean the filter not the actual lens glass so i wont be getting any solutions inside my lens in case that springs into anyone’s mind. thank you
If all you’re cleaning is the filter then just use a tiny amount of dish detergent in a pan of lukewarm water and all the scummy stuff will come right off. Rinse, let dry and use.
Use nail polish remover or alcohol if you want to remove any coating on the filters – the coating applied by the filter manufacturer.
