What is this device on my laptop? (Dell Latitude e6400)?

What is this device on the bottom left side of my laptop? You can see it in this photo, it is on the left side a few inches away from the word “DELL” on the photo.

http://laptoppimp.com/laptop-review/dell-laptops/performance-issues-for-the-dell-latitude/

At first it looks like a camera, but it is NOT a camera. There is already a camera at the top of the screen (not shown in photo). If you shine a light onto this “thing” you will see what looks like a small diamond with wires attached to it, so it is obviously not a camera lens. What could it be? I have looked all over for the specifications about the Dell Latitude e6400 but nothing explains what this thing is.

The laptop is a Dell Latitude e6400.

ANY IDEAS???

Thanks!

Looks like an infrared port. Try beaming from another IR device with it uncovered and covered.

btw the link you posted has major pop up ads. Would have been good to take screen shot or copy the photo and post it on flickr or something, or at least warned to look at a cached page, LOL!
