One thing about Canon cameras, if you have a bit of tech smarts, is many models support a memory card installation called CHDK. Here is the user manual that explains the features

The older versions of the SD1300 will support CHDK and its enhanced features, but not this particular model … yet. CHDK is usually updated for new cameras within a few months. Keep it in mind, as it greatly enhances the camera if / when you can install it.
