File Names with my Nikon D90?
Every time I take a photo with my Nikon D90 it names the file DCS_0001, and that’s not a big deal. What bothers me though is when I take the photos off of the Memory Card, and put it back into the camera, the file name starts back at 0001, which makes things extremely hard for me when storing my photos. Say I have a folder set up with Dog Photos, and there are two DSC_0020 pictures, I have to rename one. I have a Scan Disk Ultra II 8gb Memory Card in case that might be the issue. So I guess my question is, how can I get my camera to save the numbers differently? PLEASE HELP!
Go to the shooting display ( menu D )
File numbering sequence is D-7 is file numbering sequence
you can find it on page 182 of your manual.
If you are using photoshop you can also set it up in there to rename them based on GPS info or date from the exif files
