Where can I find a place in New York City that will develop 35mm film for me?

I am an art student and for a year I took photography, using 35mm camera film. I don’t take it anymore but I still shoot the film. My school doesn’t have a Dark Room anymore and I am too poor to build one and too busy to search relentlessly for a place without help. If anyone knows where I can find a place that will develop for me that would be really awesome, because I think if I don’t do it soon, the film might rot away.

Are you talking about hand-developed black and white? Otherwise, any pharmacy will do it. My local camera shop develops B&W film by hand. If you take it to a pharmacy, they may be able to do it, or ship it off to be done for you. They ship out slide film. Or they’re supposed to. You might want to tell them to do it so they don’t try and develop it as print film. *peer* Anyway, I obviously don’t live in the area or I would’ve given you some place by now, but I would talk to the photo technician at Walgreens or CVS. It costs $21 to develop at my camera shop, by the way…Sort of expensive. Bathrooms are usually easy to transform into a temporary darkroom. Or, just develop the film in a darkbag and take the developed film to the pharmacy to be printed. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=search&A=search&Q=&ci=4942&sb=ps&sq=desc&sortDrop=Relevance&ac=&bsi=&bhs=t&ci=4942&shs=bag&ci=786&basicSubmit=Submit+Query

A dark bag and a developing canister will be cheaper than a whole darkroom set-up. Still a tad pricey, but worth it some may say. If the links don’t work, it’s because they require cookies. So if that’s the case, sorry.

TOP 5 Film Processing Equipment

A Roll of 35mm Film For the Photography Buff

It may well seem surprising in this era of digital this and automatic that to realize that there are lots of photographers who still prefer the 35mm film camera. You can find probably various big reasons for this trend. Schools of photography still use them to teach their students how to take an actually excellent picture. The adjustment of lighting, obtaining the right angle and discovering the several techniques that may be employed in photography can only be performed with a film camera.

It’s hard to come across a digital camera which will go into a fully manual mode with out a large expenditure. That’s probably why a 35mm film camera body is really an excellent bargain right now. It is possible to get a camera with a decent lens for much less than a standard point and shoot digital. It’s a reality that a $500 camera body from ten years ago may be found on on the internet auctions for $50. It might make the owner feel poor, but that exact same owner might well be taking pictures with sharper colors, far more distinct contrasts along with a number of interesting effects.

Some of the middle priced 35mm cameras are still ranked fairly high on the list. The Minolta 35mm camera is 1 of those that has withstood the test of time. An employed body will price pennies on the dollar compared to some of the new models and will perform just too.

An additional good reason to stick with a 35mm film camera is you’ve got the opportunity to develop and print your personal photographs. The developing procedure offers quite a few avenues for creativity that far exceed turning on your personal computer and hitting “print”. A much less than ideal picture of an object might be tweaked into exactly what you were in search of with out the price of an high-priced photo processing program.

To some this could seem like too a lot of a challenge, but to the artisan who values their creativity it’s exactly what is needed. What greater feeling of accomplishment can there be. As you take a look at the picture developing, you decide what direction you would like to take it in. Must you leave it in just a little longer or stop the procedure early to achieve your effect. It’s all inside your hands, not in those of a software developer or a point and shoot camera company.

A point and shoot 35mm camera will offer you the exact same benefits. It is possible to acquire a roll of film, take the pictures and method them yourself. This art is the 1 taught by professional schools of photography and in most college classes. Hobbyists still work with these cameras due to the fact they like the capacity of changing angles and acquiring a different exposure with a flick of a button. They can change settings, even on a point and shoot that may get a sharp picture of a football play, or a close-up of a blooming bird of paradise.

Performing an internet search for a 35mm film camera will lead you to several retailers that may get you fixed up with a terrific SLR with a lens for under $150. It’ll be the kind of camera that you are able to teach a child or grandchild to use so they truly know HOW to take a picture and not just aim and shoot and feel they accomplished some thing.
