Questions about Australia made Alvey Reels Center Pin Fishing?
Alvey Reels I was looking on the internet and I the look of them, especially the side / caste system as easily as they were characteristic of them, but they look more like Reels for sea and as they are made in Australia, which is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean would make sense. But I live in the UK and I wonder if Reels Alvey would be correct to use here in a scenario of non-sea fishing, fishing float as General perhaps?
With the many advances in design reel Spinning Alvey now seems a bit archaic, but your using it for fishing Surf. (I'm not trying to be rude!) The pro & con Alvey to appear to be:. # 1) Mega-distance casting to fish in the surf, some moments, you do not need to throw more than 75 to 100 + meters. Heck, using the Alvey, you could run a good THROUGH streams and fishing ponds freshwater I know! (Lol) (Understand, however, that you could cast a reel holding these mega distances if your using a rod diameter and 15 feet of light online.) # 2.) Low maintenance thanks to its "plastic-like" construction and few moving parts of the Alvey does have an advantage over all the traditional dress / Spinning (ESP in salt water). I do not know about you, but I like the ability to feel "confident" that your coil will not be ruined if it takes a "dip" in the ocean. But in your case (for use in fresh water), which is a moot point. In my opinion, I think that Alvey would surf a beautiful saltwater fishing Pier held. I'm sure you could use it in fresh water, without incident, but it seems a little "overkill". Why exaggerate? # 1.) When you buy a reel Alvey you have to go "special rod" so that you can achieve announced their mega-distance casting. While watching the video How to Cast training, I noticed that the stems seem a bit "noodly" and "slow acting". I think these rods will make the "short work" against most of the freshwater fish, (except, is, the big carp or salmon). Seems a little "overkill" for your freshwater fish on average. Heck, you can be the luckiest fisherman living and still catch a limit of fish MONSTER when you go fishing! But if your like me, your average capture is not always a "wall bracket". (LOL) But, my least favorite thing on the Alvey is that you must use your finger to the wind at the line in. When I'm at sea, fight against the big fish such as mahi mahi, Kingfish, Wahoo, Sails, Tuna does not bother me using my "finger-muscle" to keep straight, but it seems a hassle to have to do for small fish (in my opinion). Otherwise, this coil would drool a surf fisherman! (Lol) I hope this helps in some way there? Check out the video years and particular attention is the stem. Good fishing!
